The Bridges Program is looking for VIOLIN and CELLO teachers!

Join us in our mission to bring the gift of music education to underserved students in Baltimore!

Bridges is a non-profit music program of MAESTRO Ensembles, Inc. that has been giving elementary school students in Baltimore City schools the opportunity to learn violin, viola, cello, or string bass since 2006.
Students of the program meet in small groups twice a week for 45 minutes, where they are taught the fundamentals of their chosen instrument. The lessons culminate in a fun, final concert for all of the students.
All Bridges classes, activities, and access to instruments are FREE for participating families!

Job Description

We are looking for teachers who display a commitment to providing warm, supportive, quality music education for our young, underserved students. Our teachers are passionate about sharing music through teaching while nurturing a love of music.

This is a contract position. Teachers are paid $50 per lesson. Payments are made at the end of each month’s services.

Duties and Responsibilities


● Teaching all assigned classes.
● Adhering to the learning objectives set forth by the program director.
● Participating in all planning and evaluation sessions.
● Participating in school-based concerts, as scheduled.
● Participating in the program’s end-of-year concert, as scheduled.
● Engaging a substitute for any necessary absences.


● Keeping accurate attendance and class size records.
● Assisting with set-up and clean-up of the rehearsal space.
● Keeping all teaching spaces neat, leaving them as they were found each day.
● Performing simple maintenance on instruments as needed, notifying the program director of more substantial instrument maintenance and repair needs.


● Developing and maintaining relationships with the site coordinator, principal, office assistant, and other appropriate staff.
● Notifying the site coordinator of any delays or absences as far in advance as possible.


● Must have completed or be currently enrolled in a String Performance or Music Education degree.
● Experience as string teachers preferred.
